VSports Preview : A who’s who of CS

By: Mark Cheben

The Vsports All-Star game is pitting the best of the best from North America and Europe against each other. This is a fan’s dream seeing the likes of HeatoN, eLement, and XeqtR together going up against shaGuar, KSharp, and fRod. Aside from Gotfrag’s own NA All-Star game, nothing like this has ever been attempted. The GGL has flown in the best, as voted by the fans, for a match to be remembered.

American All-Stars

Griffin “shaGuar” Benger
Country:  Canada
Current Team: Team NoA

Arguably one of the worlds best AWPers, shaGuar has created a name for himself that no one can forget. From being on the old zEx squad which took down eoL at Winter CPL 2002 and SK.swe at ESWC 2003 to now on International Powerhouse NoA alongside XeqtR, Fisker, Naikon, and Method (who joins him for the All-Star event) where he won CPL Winter 2004 and WEG Season 1, he is a force to be reckoned with on any team he is on. With a very successful past, shaGuar is here to stay and will attend WEG Season 2 in Korea with his team to defend their championship.

Mikey “Method” So
Country:  USA
Current Team: Team NoA

Arguably one of the world’s best rifles, Method has been on the top of his game for quite some time. From dominating local LAN tourneys to winning CPL Winter 2004 and WEG Season 1 with NoA, he has emerged as one of the best players in the world. Aside from his accomplishments with NoA, he was also an integral part of the GX squad that attended ESWC 2003 where they performed very well beating out some of Europe’s best teams at the time.

Danny “fRoD” Montaner
Country:  USA
Current Team: compLexity

The United States hottest player currently which no one can deny. Danny has risen from his spectacular days in the old United 5 squad to the ranks of the all-star compLexity team. compLexity really has turned some heads after a very impressive showing at CPL Spain beating out Astralis, x6tence, and world renowned NiP. After finally proving themselves as a team, silencing any doubters, Danny and the whole coL team now have the past behind them and look toward the future.

Kyle “Ksharp” Miller
Country:  USA
Current Team: Team 3D

One of the biggest names in the whole world, Kyle has been around since the dawn of CS. From his time in X3 and their legendary performance vs. NiP at the 2001 CPL to now currently in 3D and winning CPL Winter 02 and WCG 2004, Kyle remains on top of the world. After some seemingly disappointing results in CPL Spain, 3D is going to need to regain their once unstoppable form and Kyle will be an integral part of it. With his ability to perform tremendously in any situation, Ksharp is going to be a key player in the match.

Justin “sunman” Summy
Country:  USA
Current Team: compLexity

Once a very unproven and considered an “online only” player, Justin silenced all doubters after his tremendous performance with the old zEx squad at CPL Winter 02 and with his “shot heard round the world”. For people who don’t know, Justin was defusing the bomb on de_train against a very powerful eoL team, he faked the defuse and took a shot through both walls to alley with his awp and was able kill Damien and defuse the bomb. After the breakup of zEx, he joined tsg with cBz, volcano, and others. After his time in tsg and u5, Sunman joined complexity and has been there since. With his amazing skill, Justin will be a valued asset
